The Fake Search

On March 22, 2009 seven people assembled at a location in San Mateo, Florida to conduct a search for HaLeigh Cummings.

The location was selected because of a (supposed) vision by a 'psychic' friend of Connie Sheffield.

Judy Lucia would later say John Regan refused to give her his real name and identified himself to her as an "undercover" FBI agent. This was relevant because John Regan impersonated a law enforcement officer to many differnt individuals who later came forward and talked about it.

Jeremiah Regan, John Regan's son, found a "bloody glove".

It is commonly accepted the items were planted and found on purpose in a deliberate effort to make it look like HaLeigh had been to the area and murdered there.

HaLeigh's grandfather, Johnny Sheffield, later told Timothy Charles Holmseth that Misty Croslin had been at that location the night HaLeigh was reported missing.

Timothy Charles Holmseth spoke to Major Gary Bowling, Putnam County Sheriff's Office, about the items. Major Bowling conceded the items were planted.

Timothy Charles Holmseth was interviewed by the Minneapolis FBI and discussed the items planted at the fake search. The agent said the reason people would plant items in this manner was so people would stop looking for the child.
